The sap of Betula pendula can only be collected during the early spring, which only last for 1 month. The sap of Betula pendula is colourless and is a bit sweet with lots of mineral and polysaccharide. It is well known by Russian and people of Ainu since ancient time. Chaga is the material that contains the nutrient of Betula pendula that absorbed from the land for more than ten years. It is really so rare that it is named as “black diamond” since ancient time.
